Round five of Cal State Downhill Weekend at Fontana began with the conclusion of the ODI Grips Summer Cross Country Series. As we’ve seen, Blaassen Van Oorschot and Juarez, Florit Leduc, Carter, and others continue to be the top-notch courses at Southridge. Ty Kady, a 26-year-old cross-country rider and Daniel Umland, a 17-year-old downhiller. Kady, a former Suzuki Factory supported motocrosser, came out of nowhere in this year’s race. Ty was the sport mountain biker Ty’s favorite at the beginning of the year. Ty won Sea Otter and was untouchable since then.
Umland has just completed his first year as a Pro, after he was promoted from Junior Expert. His biggest win is the Cal State at Southridge. Ironically, Daniel is sponsored by the ODI-Southridge shop promoters.
